Biarritz is famous for
its casino and a palace of Napoleon III (now a hotel).
It has
long been associated with the rich and famous. The centre is
lively with plenty of shops and restaurants to suit all tastes,
it is extremely chic and great for people-watching!
The Biarritz Surf Festival also takes place here
in mid July. Around 200,000 surfing enthusiasts attend including
world champion longboarders and international stars attend.

St-Jean de Luz, which is close to the Spanish border, is a buzzing little town within a horseshoe bay where the beach is adjacent to the harbour. Great to sit and have a drink and watch the artists paint in the square, or admire the boats and yachts.

There are some very nice quiet beaches with rock pools etc. On the main beach front there is a health spa. This has a swimming pool, sauna, steam room jacuzzi and gym (including classes).
There are also beauty treatments such as massages,
facials, hair salon... definitely worth a visit while the children
are on the beach! If you are lucky you can sometimes book in
person first thing in the morning for that day but to save disappointment
it may be wise to book in advance either by phone or email:
